The journey of Modal Salsafication celebrates Latin rhythms with a classical flavor. The catchy opening motif is based on a rather ambiguous mode: a major scale with lowered 6th and 7thscale degrees. This is set over a 2-3 clavé rhythmic pattern. After a lyrical secondary theme and a series of modulations a full-blown salsa montuno appears. The clavé here is 3-2 with a playful rumba syncopation. Complexity ensues. The final section returns to the original motif, but here it is transformed to a solidly major mode for a triumphant home coming.
