Colleen Dick and Laura Zaerr have been collaborating on various musical projects since the mid-80’s. Burned out on Celtic and Classical, the two delved into the steamy realm of jazz. With Colleen’s linguistic talent she learned Portuguese in order to sing the great works of Brazilian masters. Not only is Colleen a talented vocalist but she also plays keyboards, panoura, and melodica, enhancing the sonic palate. The gentle resonance of the harp is a perfect fit with the smooth elegance of Bassa Nova and Samba. Kevin Ronko’s subtle touch on percussion brings to life a repertoire rich in complexity and variety. Ron Green on bass adds a touch of grace and elegance to the sound. Chuva Boa plays the standard Brazillian fare but also delights in delving into lesser known works from Jobim’s pseudo-classical Chovendo na Roseira and Piazolla’s Milonga del Ángel, to the light-hearted O Pato of Jayme Silva and surprising rendition of Take Five.
